Four fabulous episodes from one of Britain's best loved and longest running TV comedy shows.

First broadcast in 1968, Dad's Army tells the story of a group of mostly elderly men during World War 2.

This motley band are the Home Guard, who provide the UK's last line of defence if the Nazi hordes invade.

They live in Walmington-On-Sea, a fictitious village on England's south coast, and operate as the Home Guard in their spare time.

They're commanded by a pompous bank manager called Captain Mainwaring, played brilliantly by Arthur Lowe.

His assistant and chief clerk is the droll and sarcastic Sergeant Wilson, played by John Le Mesurier.

So-called 'experience' is provided by Lance Corporal Jones, played by Clive Dunn.

He is an old soldier, who frequent has funny turns, calling out "Don't Panic!" and "They don't like it up 'em!".

There's a grumpy old Scotsman called Private Frazer. He's played by John Laurie and he's known for moaning "We're doomed!".

The most doddery one of the lot is Private Godfrey, played by Arnold Ridley, who frequently asks "can I be excused?".

The youngest is Private Pike, played by Ian Lavender, who's a bit of a mummy's boy.

Pike's mother, played by Janet Davies, is Sergeant Wilson's long-time girlfriend, much to the disapproval of Captain Mainwaring.

There's a Spiv in the group called Private Walker, played by James Beck. He can get his hands on any commodity, if the price is right.

On this hilarious comedy audio book you get four great episodes.

"The Man and the Hour" is the first ever episode of the series, first broadcast in 1968. In this, Mainwaring barks out, "Come on Adolf, we're ready for you!".

"My British Buddy" sees Mollie Sugden guest-starring as a Walmington inhabitant besotted with the new GIs in town.

In "Time On My Hands" you'll see a German airman snagged by his parachute on the town hall clock. "What do we do? What do we do?" they say.

The fourth episode is a real classic. "A Soldier's Farewell" features Mainwaring dreaming he's Napoleon at Waterloo, with Wilson as an elegant Duke of Wellington.
