Originally broadcast from 1994 to 2007, the show was written by Richard Curtis, who penned comedy masterpieces like Blackadder, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Notting Hill, and Love, Actually.
It first aired in 1994, and has run for three series as well as Christmas Specials in 1996, 1997, 2004 and 2006, and two Comic Relief Specials in 1997 and 1999. In 2004, it
came third place in the "Britain's Best Sitcom" awards.

Dibley is a fictional small village in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, inhabited by some rather eccentric characters:

* Foul-mouthed farmer Owen Newitt
* Pedantic parish council secretary Frank Pickle
* Letitia Cropley with her dubious culinary concoctions
* David Horton, the domineering council ruler
One day, the village's 102-year-old Reverend Pottle dies. And that's when the trouble begins. The village is assigned a female vicar following changes in the Church of England
that permitted the ordination of women.
The new vicar of Dibley is a babe with a bob and a magnificent bosom - otherwise known as Geraldine. Her character was inspired by a real person, Joy Carroll, who was one of
the first female vicars.
Geraldine boosts the number of church-goers, enjoys TV, pop music and chocolate hob-nobs, learns about suffering by giving up chocolate for Lent, and accepts too many
invitations to Christmas lunch from her parishioners.
Gary Waldhorn, James Fleet, Roger Lloyd Pack, Emma Chambers and Trevor Peacock also feature in these classic BBC TV episodes.
